About Upper Bukit Timah Neighbourhood

Bukit Timah is the highest point of Singapore. It also has the longest road through Singapore (25km) from North to South. This area is known for its historical significance as the location of British troops’ last defense against Japanese occupiers in 1942. Bukit Timah is also remembered fondly for hosting the country’s most prestigious horse races in the 1900s. The Bukit Timah Racecourse was open from 1933 to 1999 before it was closed to make room for Kranji Racecourse.

This neighborhood is ideal for those who are looking for alternatives to the usual chain restaurants and shopping at the local chain stores. This neighborhood has a variety of hipster cafes and brunch spots that will satisfy the most discerning of caffeine addicts. It is also home to many independent businesses and small artisanal shops.

Bukit Timah not only has modern conveniences, but also contains a large amount of Singapore’s tropical greenery and rainforests. This is a win-win situation for nature lovers. Bukit Timah has a nature reserve, treetop walks trails, and many other eco-spots offering great outdoor activities.

You’ll find many schools here, including a lot of international schools. This area is home to many expatriates and families. Bukit Timah’s property prices are higher than those in other areas around the city.

Bukit Timah is surrounded by Bukit Timah Nature reserve and the Central Water Catchment Area in the North, whereas eastwards bordered by Dunearn and Tyersall. Holland Drive, Ghim Moh and Dover comprises the southern border of the neighbourhood, with Clementi and Bukit Batok forming up the western side.
